Before we start talking about this spectacular blood orange cosmo spritzer let me give you a little background into how I came to learn about the amazing blood orange liqueur that inspired it.
My very first Solerno blood orange liqueur encounter was made via a fantastic blood orange margarita during one of my first visits to Bueno Bueno, a cute Mexican Restaurant not too far from my house. It has since become my go-to cocktail when I visit.
I’ve been meaning to try and replicate that margarita for a while now, but I just haven’t had any luck finding blood oranges to whip up the blood orange puree it calls for.
Well, fast-forward to last weekend… apparently, one of the grocery stores I don’t often frequent had them for a hot second back in October. I later learned when asking the produce manager if by chance they had any. Seeing the defeated look on my face he offered to go back into their storage room and see if they had any left. A few minutes later to my surprise, he walked out with a bag containing three cute little blood oranges.
Because they are no longer in season; at least where I live. I decided to table the blood orange margarita recipe for a future date and instead decided to use the Solerno blood orange liqueur to whip up this blood orange cosmo spritzer which I think is totally a Thanksgiving day worthy cocktail and does not require you to hunt down the produce manager at your grocery store and beg to have him check his storeroom for any straggler blood oranges. All you need is a little blood orange soda and the Solerno blood orange liqueur.
I will be putting to use a little of this blood orange juice for next weeks dessert post, so stand by and in the meantime… pinkies up!
Cheers and a happy Friday to you! x-j
